Around the World in Eighty Days is the famous adventure novel by the French writer Jules Verne, published in 1872. In the story, Phileas Fogg, a wealthy British gentleman, and his newly employed French valet, Passepartout, attempt to circumnavigate the world in 80 days on a £20,000 wager set by his friends at the Reform Club. The Journey departs from London by train at 8:45 p.m. on 2 October, via Suez, Bombay, Hong Kong, Yokohama, San Francisco, New York and it must finish at the club by this same time on 21 December, 80 days later.
